Today was poking around the entire worldmap looking for new dialog and cleaning up sidequests.
Onwards to Unsorted Highlights!

Things are mostly unchanged. For instance, Mintaka is still, er, in dire need of some help.
(This means the 100% guide is incorrect when saying the enemies here can only be encountered on the way to the fortress)
The Mintaka docks, still with dead soldiers and a demon walking around.

There’s a whole bunch to do in Mira, though not in Parnasse specifically. The locals have, er, missed the memo.
Villager: “Have you seen Lady Mélodia anywhere?” Villager: “I haven’t seen her lately. I’m worried that she might have been kidnapped again.”

*stares at camera with are-you-fucking-kidding-me face*
Old man: “I heard there’s been some trouble at the Duke’s Manor...” Old man: “...Kalas? What did you do this time?” Kalas, looking angry: “I-I didn’t do anything!”

We finally unlock the museum sidequest and get rid of some stuff that’s been cluttering our Quest Magnus for a while.
I wonder how strict the range of acceptable items is!
Curator: “Just look at this museum. There are so few items on display... As its curator I feel embarrassed.” Curator: “For each donation that you make, the museum will, of course, give you something in return.” Kalas facing an empty pedestal, the Quest Magnus UI focused on a Golden Pick Axe. Curator: “This item is most truly suitable to exhibit. Thank you for bringing it here.”

The kids that were on a school trip to the Manor have exploded in the meantime. We get to play fetch quest some more to calm them down.
They end up on cleaning duty, we get a reward, the usual.
Calbren Manor, the teacher lying exhausted on the floor as kids run and wreak havoc around the room. Kalas facing a kid standing on the piano’s keys, the Quest Magnus UI focused on a Picture Book. Teacher, as the kids are scrubbing the floor: “We’re not going home until this Manor is spick and span. And I mean cleaner than it was before we [cont]” Teacher: “[cont] came.”

We also fill our pockets with animals that definitely do not fit in there.
I guess we put them in cards? Maybe? Does that count as mistreatment? We do have a rooster as a Battle Magnus and it seems fine?
I HAVE MANY QUESTIONS.
Kalas, facing a small whale with legs in Balançoire: “I guess no one would complain now if we take it to Kaffaljidhma.” Stable hand: “What? You want this Prancer? Are you willing to take it to a cooler climate?” Kid feeding ducks: “Huh? You want a Fantail Duck? Let me think about it for a second... Promise to take good care of it?”

The Mindeer has not returned to its dock. I wonder where it is.
The dock in castle Elnath in Diadem, empty.

Speaking of places from many many hours ago, we finally get the chest that was on the roof of Rodolfo’s mansion.
(It’s an equip for Kalas, with ridiculously good stats but no status effect protection)
The roof of Rodolfo’s manor. Kalas is standing in front of a treasure chest. Textbox: “You’ve obtained a Magnus: Moon Buckle”

We check on Quzman’s family and spot an EXTREMELY nerdy joke.
For those of you who don’t work with computers in that way: elliptical curve cryptography is a core component of modern encryption algorithms.
Hisham: “I believe the curve of an ellipse can be used as a code.”

(Wikipedia says the technique entered broad usage around 2004-2005, so it must have been a very active discussion topic while this game was being made!)

Trill’s father has false hopes (this is after running a fish fetch errand).
Cedr - the kinda rude kid from the very start - is ABSOLUTELY onto Kalas and Xelha, in case we hadn’t guessed that Of Course Our Two Leads Will End Up TogetherTM.
Trill’s Father: “Looks like you’ve done well. This one is very fresh. That’s my son-in-law!” Cedr: “Hey there, you two! So, you’re traveling together again.” Cedr: “You both look happier than ever.” Cedr: “Hee hee. You guys make it so obvious, anyone can tell.”

There is no retort to this and I kinda wish there was.
As mentioned earlier, there’s not much of a redemption arc to Kalas, more of a “shit we need to fix this, can’t discuss grudges now”.
Old woman in Cebalrai: “Everyone is talking about this... Resurrection of the ancient god... A prelude to catastrophe?!” Old woman in Cebalrai: “Don’t tell me you had something to do with this?”

There’ll be more minor sidequests and world state changes after the next thing.
Which is, NEXT TIME: talking to Larikush and going for a lovely walk into the mountains.

Oh yeah and a geeky note that the snow builds back up over time. Meaning it’s not just storing up / down status, it’s a bit more granular than that and has a fade pass. Strengthens my guess that it’s vertex displacement via texture lookup.
Kalas in Cursa, the path he carves through the snow filling back in.
