So. Coliseum shenanigans. AKA “everyone told me there’s a game-breaking bug, let’s hope I get lucky”.

First off, you may recall that there’s this doof in Diadem who’s been secretly wasting the household money on sponsoring an entrant. I think that dialog has changed?
I wonder if the guy he’s sponsoring is someone we know. Someone who’s a coward and gave us his tags, maybe.

Father: “I invested money sponsoring a Coliseum entrant, but I haven’t heard anything from my entrant at […]”

Father: “Nobody has heard of him at the Coliseum, either… C-could this be fraud? Did I get scammed?!”

Back at the Coliseum, I’ve accumulated enough points for the secret reward but it’s locked behind some other event flag. Boooooo. Later, then

Prize redemption screen, showing a number of items for sale against RP. The one for 99999 is labeled “????”. Sagi is rank 4 with 99999RP.
Prize Redemption Girl: “This is the prize redemption counter! Got your eye on anything in particular?”

Prize Redemption Girl: “Something is missing for you to be able to claim this prize.”

And yay, the quest isn’t bugged! We go to Vega, Panie threatens us some more, all of this really needs some music and/or voice to work.
It ends up feeling like a beta version of a quest, a late addition that did not get the full polishing treatment.

Registration Lady: “Mr. Sagi, you’ve received an emergency summons.”

Registration Lady: “Please head to Vega right away!”

Panie: “Ahh, young Sagi. It would seem you persist in less than intelligent behavior.”

Panie: “Return again to the Coliseum, and I suspect you’ll find the conclusion to this scenario you’ve chosen.”

Back at the Coliseum, a sign has been put up and a crowd has formed. Horror! We’re doomed! Somehow putting a 15yo in the fight pit isn’t the issue here!
But a (metaphorical, none of this gets VO) voice comes from off-screen.

Coliseum spectator 1: “Huh, Sagi, you’re not an entrant?!”

Coliseum spectator 2: “You were fighting here using someone else’s registration?!”

Man (offscreen): “Now, wait just a minute.”

It’s Lance, who we knew was important but apparently just runs the place or something. Rules only apply if the boss doesn’t like you, after all.

Lance: “You made a promise with my granddaughter, Elle, didn’t you?”

Lance: “And you all. Weren’t you all Sagi’s fans?”

Lance: “He isn’t registered? He doesn’t have a sponsor?”

Lance: “If such things were really important, I never would have opened this Coliseum.”

Lance: “If people are going to make a fuss over those silly rules, I’ll take Sagi in myself.”

Registration Lady: “Mr. Sagi! I was so worried!”

Registration Lady: “Obviously your efforts here have touched Mr. Lance’s… no, all of your fans’ hearts.”

Wussy Guy: “Do you suppose this is my fault?”

Milly: “Suppose?! Of course it’s your fault!”

Wussy Guy: “But you’ve managed to make it to Rank 5, right? All’s well that ends well, right?”

In other miscellaneous chores around the sky: growing a Yesterbean Variant by giving it Foul rather than Fresh Air

Sagi: “I remember when I was a kid, they said the beans grew faster with lots of fresh air…”

Textbox: “Obtained the magna essence [blue text] Yesterbean Variant [end blue text]!”

Quest Magnus menu, focused on Yesterbean Variant: “In poor thornwood conditions, this bean variant grows instead of the usual kind. Long ago they were considered rare, but today they’re more common. Slightly boosts resistance to all status ailments.”

The rest of the Coliseum will wait because I’d like to avoid grinding points before I can claim whatever that prize is.
So, next: back to Vega to turn in a Lightning Shroom! Which unlocks fast travel around the place. THANK YOU

Shaun: “You guys are our saviors! I’m granting you guys membership as a special exception!”

Sagi: “Th-Thanks. But we don’t have horn pods, and…”

Shaun: “Aww, don’t worry about that. You can hitch a ride on the back of ours.”

Shaun: “Leave it to me, man! So, where to? Just name the spot, dig?”
Options: “Port of Vega”, “Cafe”, “Tarazed entrance”, “Never mind”.

Pherkad resident: “They heard the new emperor’s address, said they were sick of the country, and left for that fortress…”

Plus I took a moment to actually check the Travel Log, and:
- Milly was jealous of Celsica I guess? Urgh.
- I do love the image of ‘Kahn locking the throne room to avoid a scolding.
- Guillo is dropping some serious hints here, feels like.

Travel Log, Milly’s Journal: “Aha, interesting. So that’s the type of woman Sagi goes for. Not that I care, mind you. Sagi has his kid moments, but King Ladekahn and [red text] Gibari [end red text] have him beat. Poor [red text] Sir Rambari [end red text]… Well, we’d better track those two down.”

Travel Log, Sagi’s Journal: “We went another round with [red text] Giacomo [end red text] today. I wish he’d give it up already. Well, that’s not fair. I’m sure he has his reasons. King Ladekahn went back to Castle Elnath, and Rambari was in hot pursuit. I think the king’s in for a king-sized lecture unless he bolts the doors to the throne room shut.”

Travel Log, Guillo’s Journal: “Those mongrels of the Machina Vanguard have taken the Cloudvents. They’re never far behind—and often too far ahead. No sooner do we receive orders to treat with the king that the Vanguard crashes his kingdom. What’s really happening here?”

Travel Log, Guillo’s Journal: “Our next mission…? Feh, easy for him to say as he sits back in the safety of his mansion. The way I see it, Verus is no different than Baelheit.”

And after that is Tarazed proper - which mercifully gets a direct access menu option on the world map.
That’ll be its own thread once I’m done with the place, I think I’m about halfway through. Hopefully next week-end!
