Off to Detourne! The guide has “WTF” as bullet point 4 so we’re clearly in for a good time.
This is... arguably... the weirdest part of this game.

I assume because we’ve asked the Helpful NPC everything, the Golden Hero has now shown up. He gives us one more hint which admittedly wasn’t hard to guess, and some... helpful items?
Golden Hero: “I’ve been waiting for a hero like you. Are you going to open the door of the quarry for me?” Golden Hero: “To get the quarry door open, you need the golden key that’s tied to the chain in this room.” Textbox: “You’ve obtained a valuable item: Jet Boots” Textbox: “You’ve obtained a valuable item: White Sword”

So we go through the door and...
I DON’T KNOW, OKAY. Apparently it’s a weird Tower of Druaga joke or something?
A pixelated brick maze straight out of the NES era or earlier. Combat screen against a green blob.

We emerge on the ceiling and get another helpful items that lets us walk through those fireballs in the labyrinth.
Kalas standing on the ceiling, because why not. Golden Hero: “Oh, you! I just remembered! The fire element in the quarry, is that in your way?” Textbox: “You’ve obtained a valuable item: Red Necklace”

The other key area is this giant scale, complete with utterly creepy flying hand monsters.
You take water out of the fountain to adjust the pans, which also affects the floating cubes. Basic puzzling as always.
Kalas standing by a large fountain patrolled by monsters. In the center is a large scale. Kalas: “If we make this side heavier, I think the scales will be balanced.” Quest Magnus UI, pointing at Pristine Water. The scales now balanced, all the cubes floating at half-height.

We eventually shenanigan our way to the base of the chain, and break it since it’s rusty. A bunch more running around and triggering weird events to get more helpful items, and we’ve got the pickaxe to break gold walls and the key for the door.
Kalas, on the ceiling: “The base of the chain is rusty. Probably because it’s been submerged in water.” The pixel labyrinth, showing the Goden Pick Axe selected in the Quest Magnus UI.

However an annoying amount of my healing items have rotted, and I need some more drops, so the boss will wait and next session will probably be grinding. Oh well, it happens!
